HEALTH AND SAFETY MEASURES AT WORK AND FIRE PROTECTION ON MINING MECHANIZATION

The general goal of the occupational health and safety system is to recognize the risks at the work place in the working environment for each worker, and based on the identification and evaluation of risks, it is necessary to implement appropriate measures, namely: preventive measures to prevent risks, corrective measures to eliminate or risk reduction, as well as continuous measures to maintain risk at an acceptable level. On the other hand, fire is a process of uncontrolled combustion that endangers the life and health of people, material goods and the environment. Fire protection means a set of measures and actions for planning, financing, organizing, implementing and controlling fire protection measures and actions, for preventing the occurrence and spread of fires, detecting and extinguishing fires, rescuing people and property, protecting the environment, and determining and removing the cause of the fire. The application of safety and health measures at work in the mining industry and fire protection on mining machinery, as well as the testing of work equipment from the aspect of occupational safety, which the employer is obliged to implement in accordance with positive legal regulations, are of key importance for successful exploitation, continuous work process and increase in productivity, employee satisfaction and safe work environment as a whole. The theme of this paper connects the field of occupational health and safety and fire protection into a unique system of preventive action in mining with a special focus on mining machinery as one of the key segments in the process of ore exploitation.
