“FSA/FSS have reviewed an assessment of application RP1566 for the renewal authorisation of genetically modified (GM) insect-resistant soybean MON 87701 x MON 89788 for food and feed uses, import and processing. This GM application has been made to renew the authorisation in Great Britain (GB) as it is 10 years since the stacked event was authorised and placed on the market in the EU. The same event has been authorised for food and/or feed use in 17 other territories worldwide as the information and data demonstrate that the regulatory science and safety criteria are satisfied according to the regulatory requirements in those territories. This Genetically Modified Organism (GMO) had its authorisation renewed by European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) in 2022. FSA/FSS have reviewed the information provided by the applicant and the EFSA renewal Opinion1 and confirmed that genetically modified soybean MON 87701 x MON 89788, as described in this application, is unlikely to have any adverse effect on human or animal health or on the environment in the context of its intended uses in GB.”
