Nella Mitteleuropa dei primi decenni del XX secolo, sempre più irretita dai miti dell’ascesa economica e del capitale, il moralismo perbenista della società borghese assediava la dimensione psicologica femminile stringendola in una sorta di “pedagogia del divieto”, che ne mortificava l’affettività e l’espressione della sessualità. La Lulu di Alban Berg attraversa questa dimensione come un’ombra tragica, e si fa icona della contraddizione che lacera, fino a sfigurarlo, l’eros femminile.
