Amor sexual e amor compassivo em Schopenhauer

O objetivo deste artigo é o de defender a conexão entre amor sexual e amor compassivo na filosofia de Schopenhauer. Em um primeiro momento, Schopenhauer opõe amor sexual e compaixão, afirma que o primeiro é amor próprio, portanto egoísmo, enquanto o segundo é amor puro genuíno, visa o bem-estar alheio. A oposição inicial entre amor sexual e compaixão diz respeito à oposição fundamental entre compaixão e egoísmo, mas não contempla suficientemente a verdadeira finalidade do amor sexual. Do ponto de vista metafísico, o amor sexual é compassivo, visa o interesse da espécie, que prevalece diante dos interesses individuais.
