Ovaj rad počiva na pretpostavci da tradicionalne strategije čitanja ne omogućuju zadovoljavajući pristup Thomas Pynchonovom romanu Gravity's Rainbow. Autor nudi jednu interpretaciju teksta koja se oslanja na Ihab Hassanovoj kateni postmodemizma, a koja se sastoji od sljedećih elemenata: 1. indeterminacija, 2. fragmentacija. 3. dekanonizacija, 4. bezjastvenost, 5. nepredočivo, 6. ironija, 7. hibridizacija, 8. karnevalizacija, 9. izvedba i 10. konstrukcionizam/imanencija. Pridodajući ovom spisku pojam post-historije, on razmatra implikacije koje iz njega proizlaze u pogledu statusa i prakse Pynchonovog romana kao književnog teksta.
