ASSESSMENT OF BASIC SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY CURRICULUM IMPLEMENTATION IN NASARAWA STATE UPPER BASIC SCHOOLS

This study assessed the implementation of basic science and technology curriculum in upper basic schools. The study was carried out to ascertain the adequacy of available school facilities and science/technology teachers for effective implementation of the basic science and technology Curriculum. .Descriptive survey design was used for the study. The population of the study comprised 3,906 teachers in upper basic schools in Nasarawa State. Stratified and simple random sampling techniques were used to select 315 teachers as respondents. A modified four points rating scale questionnaire was used to gather data and the data was analyzed using descriptive statistics to answer research questions. The study found that there was in adequate school facilities and inadequate science/technology teachers in upper basic schools in Nasarawa State. Some of the recommendations were provision of adequate school facilities and recruitment of more science and technology teachers in upper basic schools for effective implementation of basic science and technology curriculum
