La UAM en el tiempo y mi tiempo en la UAM: creación de la Maestría en Desarrollo y Planeación de la Educación (DEPLAED) en la Unidad Xochimilco

In this article, we present a reflection on the emergence and development of the Master's Degree in Development and Planning UAM-Xochimilco, from its creation in 1991 to the present day, 33 years later. Throughout this period, the master's program has experienced a winding path in its creation and sustained growth over 20 years. Subsequently, there was a decline in demand, followed by a resurgence, and finally, another decline in demand in the 18th generation. The work of the core faculty, including both the creator of the master's program and the successors and current members of the Core Faculty, has enabled a collective reflection that, in the years 2007 and 2016, led to a renewal and updating of the master's program. This endowed the curriculum with greater flexibility, allowing for the necessary changes and adjustments to respond to contemporary needs and problems. Today, we have a highly prepared faculty, with a high percentage of members from the National System of Researchers (SNI), who publish and participate in numerous academic activities both inside and outside the university, enriching the master's program with their experience. Thanks to them, more than 200 students have graduated, being advised by a tutor throughout the curricular journey until the presentation of their icr (Appropriate Dissemination of Results), achieving an overall terminal efficiency of 68.4 percent. The faculty has conducted significant publications and provided advice to other universities for the construction of their doctoral programs and the training of their faculty, as well as for the creation of modular systems. However, it is necessary to continue working to achieve greater efficiency per generation, with the aim of improving the performance and achievements of each cohort, consolidating ourselves as a national reference in the educational field.
