The Neurosteroid Response to Stress: A Potential Treatment for PTSD and Contributor to Intrusive Memories
View through CrossRef
This thesis investigates whether the biomarker allopregnanolone plays a role in the formation of intrusive memories, a core symptom of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). The first study created a method to accurately measure allopregnanolone in blood, while the second examined allopregnanolone’s relationship to intrusive memory formation in a stressful experimental study. This enhances methods for measuring allopregnanolone in the human body and highlights allopregnanolone as a potential target for more effective PTSD treatments.
