INVESTIGATING THE IMPACT OF CHATGPT ON THE WRITING SKILLS OF UNDERGRADUATE ENGLISH STUDENTS

This study explores the impact of ChatGPT on the writing skills of undergraduate English students center focusing on its consequences on grammar, coherence, vocabulary, and structural development. This Research examines how ChatGPT affects educational writing among students, as well as their opinions and usage difficulties in academic contexts. English undergraduate students who numbered 104 in number participated in this research by completing the study’s systematic questionnaire even purposive sampling. Study the use of SPSS produced illustrative Results at this time, including expressive frequency data with percentages near mean scores. The data mentions that students benefit. A study using SPSS produced descriptive results that included frequency data combined with percentages near the means score. The research instruments solicited students’ knowledge about ChatGPT, together with its effects on writing abilities and their confidence in its accuracy, potential difficulties, and ChatGPT in their Writing tasks by developing stronger skills for grammar usage, as well as vocabulary and essay organization. The research puts restrictions on its results because of English undergraduate students. Yet, this limits the external application of findings. Most students who used ChatGPT noticed its positive effects on their writing capabilities while noticing a decrease in their errors in assignments. Students expressed worries about their heavy use of the tool and authenticity issues, and the imperfect suggestions it sometimes provided. The research indicates ChatGPT delivers a beneficial writing skills improvement system that functions alongside standard educational approaches. Students recognized how ChatGPT provided efficient benefits by saving their time. Other hand, developed suitable ideas for academic assignments. The results of this study enhance current academic research about the application of AI in education by documenting how ChatGPT impacts undergraduate students’ skills. The use of self–reported data in the research might produce defective results because of possible respondent bias. Future researchers should study the long-term consequences of ChatGPT for writing skills, together with ethics and the precision of academic content generation. Academic institutions create requirements that help teachers exploit AI resources completely while keeping intellectual authenticity intact in student artworks. This paper explores the benefits alongside difficulties of AI-driven tools in the academic environment while presenting guidelines for educational institutions and the government. Institution leaders should welcome ChatGPT into academic programs through curriculum integration, accompanied by a discussion of its restrictions.
