Liliia KORNILIEVA: ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Liliia Kornilieva, DSc (Philology), is a professor at the H.S.Skovoroda Kharkiv
National Pedagogical University teaching Cross-Cultural Studies, Practice of
Translation and Literary Studies. She has over 50 publications, two monographs
and three textbooks included, a number of articles and teaching guides. She is also a
prolific author of popular books.
During 2022 alone, she published six books for children. Her book “Mysteries
of Kharkiv Covered with Snow”, published as early as January 2022, gives us the last
glimpse of the pre-war city. The author focuses on traditions of celebrating Christmas
and New Year`s Day in Kharkiv. Liliia Kornilieva reveals the symbolic meaning of
beautiful Christmas installations, decorations, Ukrainian souvenirs, confectionary
and merchandise. Many local traditions, toponyms and realia are not only mentioned
but also fully explained.
