Document: Thirty Years after the Oslo Peace Accords: Interviews with Joel Singer

ABSTRACT: This article contains edited excerpts of my interviews with Joel Singer about his participation in the 1993 Oslo peace talks. Section I relates to Singer's relationships with the three other Israeli negotiators, Yair Hirschfeld, Ron Pundak and Uri Savir. Section II concerns the Palestinian delegation, its key players and those they represented. Section III discusses the Israeli-Palestinian negotiations and the drafting of the document. Singer describes a constructive division of labor between himself and Savir and the convivial atmosphere in the room where the two delegations would also relax together, joke and laugh. The last two sections, IV and V, relate to the Oslo Accords and their implementation.
