A Novel Method of Liposuction Using an Ultrasonic Cannula: Ultrasonic Liposuction

View through CrossRef
Despite improvement in the methods of liposuction in the last decade, the basic concept of liposuction has not changed very much. There are still several unsolved problems with the conventional methods, including strenuous labor, accuracy, tissue destruction, and bleeding. In this paper, we introduce a new liposuction method that may solve these problems. This new method, “Ultrasonic Liposuction,” employs ultrasonic power directly released from a specially designed cannula. With this cannula, the surrounding adipose tissue is easily emulsified and aspirated through the cannula without significant complications. Although still in the experimental stage, an application of ultrasonic power to a cannula may be advantageous over the conventional methods.
