Rebecca Schultz's current work is inspired by rock formations. She was first drawn to rocks for aesthetic reasons. She had been making abstract work inspired by the natural world, but during her artist residency in Iceland in 2017 she began to directly reference landscape. Since then, Schultz has made pieces inspired by locations as close as the Wissahickon Schist near her home in the Philadelphia area, to New England, Wyoming, Ireland, and France.
