In October 2015-February 2016, a trial excavation was conducted in
Areas P-U at Tel ‘Erani (Permit No. A-7524; map ref. 17973/61309), prior to
widening Highway 35. The excavation, undertaken on behalf of the Israel
Antiquities Authority and financed by the National Transport Infrastructure
Company, was directed by D. Yegorov and I. Milevski, with the assistance of
E. Aladjem, M. Pasternak and Y. Huster (area supervision), A. Ziv-Ner, H.
Hammer, E. Eisenberg and Y. Shapiro (assistant area supervisors), Y.
El-‘Amor (administration), M. Kahan, V. Essman and Y. Shmidov (surveying and
drafting), E. Kamaisky andY. Bukengolts (pottery restoration), Y. Nagar
(physical anthropology), J. Regev (C14 analysis), D. Itkin (micromorphology)
and Project 500 workers and laborers from Qiryat Gat, Ashqelon, Kuseifa and
Abu Kaf provided by the contractor.
