Este artigo busca identificar como a personagem Maria Madalena é representada nos filmes épicos bíblicos, O Rei dos Reis (1961) e A Maior História de Todos os Tempos (1965). Em ambos, Maria Madalena é personagem coadjuvante, mas as atrizes que a interpretaram tem lugar de destaque nas revistas de cinema e jornais brasileiros do período. O olhar dedicado a essas produções, se dá devido à cinebiografia de Maria Madalena, lançada em 2018, dirigida por Garth Davis, onde há quebra de uma narrativa dominante sobre a personagem. Diante disso, há o objetivo de comparar as escolhas de representação da personagem nos dois filmes, buscando traçar paralelos com o filme de 2018.
