ACR expansion of dolomites with mosaic textures

View through CrossRef
The relationships between expansion of alkali–carbonate reaction (ACR) and types of dolomites with mosaic textures are presented in this article. The results show that dolomites usually appear to have a poor ACR expandability when they start to react with alkali. However, a higher ACR expansion would be produced for dolomites when reaction time is enough. It suggests that dedolomitisation of dolomites could indeed result in ACR expansion. Meanwhile, there are significant differences of autoclaved expansion among different dolomites, which is largely controlled by the intercrystalline gap in the texture of dolomites. Additionally, argillaceous dolomites are found with potentially high ACR expandability.
