Simultaneous laser cutting and welding of tungsten wire wound filaments is commercially carried out for the first time using Nd:YAG laser with two fiber coupled delivery system. The output of flash lamp pumped Nd:YAG laser of 250 W is split into two halves of equal power by 50% partially reflecting and a 99.9% fully reflecting IR mirrors to deliver 125W of output power to two optical fibers to deliver to systems FOM1 and FOM2. The FOM (Fiber Optical Module) orientated at 45° angle to tungsten wire on the either side of the tungsten wire wound filament. First optical fiber module FOM1 is used to cut wire wound tungsten filament and the second optical fiber is simultaneously used to weld tungsten wire filament. A steel wire of diameter equal to the internal diameter of the tungsten wire wound filament is passed through tungsten filament and precisely cut at the predetermined length by FOM1 and then FOM2 is simultaneously used to weld by the same laser. The optimal laser processing parameter 250 W of laser power using 7.15J pulse energy of 10 ms pulse durations at a pulse frequency 35Hz are used for cutting and welding of the tungsten filament with steel wire insert at a speed of 100 mm/s. The optimum rate of cutting and welding of tungsten filaments achieved with fiber coupled Nd:YAG laser is 30,000 filaments per hr. The fiber coupled Nd:YAG laser is a commercially viable the state of the art pioneering technology developed in house by Scantech Lasers Pvt. Ltd. in Mumbai.

Title: Optical scissor for cutting & end welding of multistrand wire
Description:
Simultaneous laser cutting and welding of tungsten wire wound filaments is commercially carried out for the first time using Nd:YAG laser with two fiber coupled delivery system.
The output of flash lamp pumped Nd:YAG laser of 250 W is split into two halves of equal power by 50% partially reflecting and a 99.
9% fully reflecting IR mirrors to deliver 125W of output power to two optical fibers to deliver to systems FOM1 and FOM2.
The optimal laser processing parameter 250 W of laser power using 7.
15J pulse energy of 10 ms pulse durations at a pulse frequency 35Hz are used for cutting and welding of the tungsten filament with steel wire insert at a speed of 100 mm/s.
