THE TEACHING OF PETROLEUM GEOLOGY IN KUWAIT

View through CrossRef
SINCE its establishment in 1966, the Department of Geology in Kuwait University has played a major role in providing the oil industry in Kuwait with qualified geologists. The Department offers a B. Sc (Hons.) Geology course of four year's duration, which currently attracts about 160 students. The geological content of the course increases year‐by‐year. The first two years provide a general geological background, while the last two include more advanced courses. A wide range of subjects is available, including micropaleontology, stratigraphy, structural geology, geophysics, geochemistry, sedimentology, petroleum geology, igneous and metamorphic studies, and the regional geology of the Arabian Peninsula. Optional courses include plate‐tectonics, physical geology, environmental geology, marine geology, and engineering geology.
