Kondrat'eva Pyridine Synthesis

Abstract
It is a general method for synthesizing pyridine derivatives involving an inverse demand Diels–Alder cycloaddition between an azadiene and a dienophile followed by an extrusion of the resulting bridge of the bicyclic intermediate. Thus this reaction is known as the Kondrat'eva pyridine synthesis. Only certain isooxazoles of particular substituted patterns undergo cycloaddition to give pyridine derivatives. The study finds that the extremely activated oxazoles such as 5‐amino‐oxazole, can undergo different patterns of cycloaddition. This reaction is important in the synthesis of pyridine derivatives and other Heterocycles.
