Superbloom - Lisa Kairos

The work in this show is inspired by the six months Lisa Kairos spent in the Mojave Desert, outside Joshua Tree National Park. Kairos walked through the desert observing, then returning to the studio to study satellite imagery of the area. The resulting works reference geological formations revealed by satellite maps overlaid with signal fields passing through infinite landscapes. Cloud-like blooms invite alternate readings as micro-organic and crystalline structures or massive weather patterns.
