SYNONYMY IN THE TERMINOLOGY OF UKRAINIAN LIBRARY SCIENCE AND BIBLIOGRAPHY

The article is devoted to synonyms (doublets) within the terminology of Ukrainian library science and bibliography of early XXI century The study has found that synonyms in the terminology of Ukrainian library science and bibliography are combined into pairs and series with different number of synonymscomponents: 1) two-component: internet-oriyentovana dovidka – vebliohrafichna dovidka [Internet-oriented reference – web-reference]; 2) three-component: dialohova informatsiy-no-poshukova systema – interaktyvna inf.-poshuk. systema – onlaynova inf.-poshuk. system [dialog information retrieval system – interactive inf.-search. system – online inf.-search. system]; 3) four-component: virtualna biblioteka – merezheva b. – elektronna b. – onlaynova b. [virtual library – network l. – electronic l. – online l.]; 4) six-component: spozhyvach informatsiyi – spozhyvach – oderzhuvach informatsiyi – retsypiyent – korystuvach informatsiynoyi systemy – abonent biblioteky [consumer of information – consumer – recipient of information – recipient – user of information system – library user], etc. It is outlined that the structure of the synonyms-doublets of Ukrainian library science and bibliography terminology are combined as follows: a) one-component terms: preface – introduction; b) one-component term – yuksatapozit (with the second part of the composite): “pravdnyk”- original – original source; c) phrase yuksatapozit – juxtaposition: multilingual dictionary – dictionary-polyglot; d) composite – composite: buktreyler – knyhotreyler [book trailer – book trailer]; e) one-component term – word-combination: book design – design in the book, artistic construction of the book; e) one-component term – composite – word-combination: informatyka – informatsiyeznavstvo – informatsiyna nauka [informatics; information science, information science]; e) terms-word-combination: virtualʹna dovidka – tsyfrova dovidka – elektronna dovidka – dovidka v realʹnomu chasi [virtual inquiry – digital inquiry – electronic inquiry – real time inquiry], etc. Thus, it can be derived that synonymy in the terminology of library science and bibliography is a common phenomenon and requires ongoing research by scientific professionals.
