Mesiodens en dentición primaria

Supernumerary teeth are developmental disorders that can appear in any maxillary región. Whilst their etiology is not well-known, it has been postulated that they are the result of a "doubling" of the dental lamina. Mesiodens can cause several complications, such as the crowding, delayed eruption or displacement of dental organs. Diagnosis is carried out clinically and radiographically. For clinical management is reported in a male patient of 5 years with a mesiodens in the maxilla, who was treated at Hospital Dos de Mayo, odontopediatry service. Intraoral examination revealed a molariform supernumerary tooth eruption, and x-ray analysis showed the presence of an dental organ in the midline. Due to the observed displacement of permanent teeth, it was decided that the supernumerary would be removed in the conventional manner.
