About the circumstances and place of the blinding of Grand Duke Vasily II

В первой половине ХV века в Московском государстве происходила затяжная кровопролитная феодальная война, шедшая между потомками, вел. кн. Дмитрия Донского. С 1425 г. московский престол занимал князь Василий II по прозванию Темный, получивший это прозвище после свержения и ослепления по приказу своего брата кн. Дмитрия Шемяки. Локация и обстоятельства произошедшей в феврале 1446 г. трагедии не решаются однозначно в ряде русских летописей. Так, в Дубровском списке Новгородской летописи местом ослепления Василия назван Троице-Сергиев монастырь, тогда как в большинстве других летописных сводов говорится о казни в Москве, на дворе Шемяки. В статье проводится сравнительный анализ библиографических и летописных данных, позволяющих выявить некоторые пробелы и неточности в отечественной историографии (посвященные биографии Василия II и периоду феодальных войн). In the first quarter of the XV century, a protracted bloody feudal war took place in the Moscow state, which was going on between the descendants of the great Prince Dmitry Donskoy. Since 1425, the Moscow throne was occupied by Prince Vasily II, nicknamed the Dark One, who received this nickname after his overthrow and blinding, by order of his brother Prince. Dmitry Shemyakа. The location and circumstances of the tragedy that occurred in February 1446 are not clearly resolved in a number of Russian chronicles. Thus, the Dubrovsky list of the Novgorod Chronicle named the Trinity-Sergius Monastery as the place of Basil's blindness, while most other chronicle vaults speak of the execution in Moscow, in the courtyard of the village of Shemyakа. The article provides a comparative analysis of bibliographic and chronicle data, allowing to clarify some gaps and inaccuracies in Russian historiography (dedicated to the biography of Vasily II and the period of feudal wars).
