Poem 20: Prince Motoyoshi

Ichiyūsai Kuniyoshiga I様様様 Common series of Kuniyoshi, Hiroshige and Kunisada about the famous collection of poems “Hyakunin isshu IIII” (hundred poets with a hundred poems). In the yellow striped field at the top, the 20th poem of the collection, written by Prince Motoyoshi Im Im Im Im Im Im (890-943). In the picture Shin no Yojō (Yü Jang from China) with headscarf that pulls his sword out of the scabbard. It is next to a bridge and is dressed like a beggar. He tries to avenge the death of his master Chihaku (Che Peh) to Chobujutsu (Chao Wu-su) (cf. Joly). In the text, however, the name Gufu strings is given.
