Grave 36 - Symbolic burial
View through Europeana Collections
It was found in the southeast sector of the necropolis, where most graves with rich inventory were found. The shape and dimensions of the pit were not established due to the uniformity of the fill and the surrounding terrain. The inventory was found at a depth of 0.68-0.95 m and the location of the finds suggested that the pit was 1.20 x 0.85 m, oriented north-south. The objects were found in two or three layers. In the northern part, shells of dentium and copper ax were found, and in the south were golden objects. In the middle section is a golden rod flanked with one string of golden manist and around it are found zooomorphic applications and figurines and other gold objects. In the southern sector for open anthropomorphic golden amulets, marble vessel, bone idol, flint plate, kaolin manist, dentallium shells, two ceramic vessels, an animal tooth, etc. Gold circular dressage applications were scattered throughout the pit, and some were found inverted, suggesting that they were sewn onto a fabric in which most of the objects were placed. The gold objects were 857 in total weight of 789 grams. The analysis of metal objects makes it possible to assume that it is one of the latest burials performed in the necropolis. Inventory: - Applications - 33 pieces, gold, weight 99.18 g, diameters 1.8-2.6 cm. A circular convection shape, symmetrically pierced along two holes. - Applications - 30 pieces, gold, weight 50.37 g, length 2.8-4 cm. A stylized image of an animal head with horns (bull, ram?), in the middle two holes for sewing into a garment. - Halki (earrings) - 16 pieces, gold, weight 27.71 g, diameters 1.6 - 3.5 cm. From round-section wire, pointed, overlapping edges. - Scepter, gold, weight 85.47 g, length 22.5 cm. Composed of two parts: a stylized hammer ax, a ring and five cylindrical sheaths for a wooden handle and an object in the form of nine biconic vertebrae. - Amulets - 7 pieces, gold, 13.9 g weight, diameters 1.8-2.1.
