Con sus obras, Käthe Kollwitz y Romain Rolland conmemoran los muertos de la Primera Guerra Mundial de formas artísticamente diferentes, pero comparten la misma actitud pacifista. Basado en las obras autobiográficas de Kollwitz y en la novela de ficción de Rolland, el artículo muestra cómo el luto individual puede convertirse en un recuerdo colectivo de los muertos motivado por el pacifismo.
