Abstract
In his declining years, Polanyi worked with Harry Prosch to pull together his insights into aesthetics, epistemology, theology, and culture. Meaning was published shortly before Polanyi's death on February 22, 1976. This chapter presents a retrospective on Polanyi's relationship to Christianity and argues that his commitment to "ultimate concerns" (Tillich) such as truth, justice, freedom, charity, and beauty mark him as a man of faith even though he identified with no particular Christian communion.
