The Importance of Lexicographic Studies in Translation of Mehmed Âkif Ersoy’s Works

In this article, the literary personality of Mehmed Âkif Ersoy, one of the founders of a new constitutional republic, poet, educator, ideologist of the young republic, author of the Independence March, was analysed, and some articles published in Kazakh were cited as sources. We describe the linguistic, stylistic features of the poet’s poetics, the process of translating his famous creations such as “Asım” in his work “Safahat” into Kazakh. In addition, the importance of lexicography studies in the translation of the works of a poet with a complex and rich style like Âkif is pointed out.
