Portrait of Zachary Pearce. The British bishop is shown here as a chest image facing to the right in the three-quarter profile. His head is slightly turned and his view front. He wears a bishop’s fulfilling ornat and a short wig. Zachary Pearce was bishop of Bangor from 1748, bishop of Rochester from 1756. He rejected the position as bishop of London. He was also a critical writer and wrote the work “Cicero, Dialogitres de oratore” in 1716 and the “Cicero, De officiis libri tres” in 1745. He presided over Handel’s funeral service on April 20, 1759 in the evening at Westminster Abbey.
