The value of group friezes and displays

Group friezes may brighten up a dull room or fill an empty wall, but they should never be seen simply as wallpaper. There are many reasons why contributing to a group frieze is beneficial for children's development. Each child contributes to and feels ownership for the final product. They have the opportunity to develop creatively as well as collaborate with peers and adults. But if group friezes are to help children to develop creatively, thought must be given not only to what will go in them but also to children's involvement in the planning, preparation, production and completion of them.
