Parameter selection for optimal deployment control of an aerodynamic tether system in the atmosphere

View through CrossRef
The deployment of a tether system in the atmosphere taking into account aerodynamic forces is considered. The methods of deploying of a space tether system are defined. The influence of tether system parameters on its deployment in the atmosphere and aerodynamic forces on deployment control are studied. The main parameters influencing the motion of the tether system and the law of tether deployment are determined. It is established that the optimal motion and deployment of the tether system are carried out at small angles of deviation of the system from the local vertical.
