La cuestión del libro en los autores chilenos Patricio Marchant y Juan Luis Martínez

Propondremos una doble lectura de Patricio Marchant y de Juan Luis Martínez, a partir de una problematización del motivo del libro en ambos autores. En esta lectura, dos hipótesis nos guiarán: 1) que La nueva novela de Martínez es un “libro judío”; 2) que tal “libro judío” se encontraría compuesto en clave cabalística, según alegara Marchant. Para poner a prueba estas hipótesis, tendremos que determinar si efectivamente en el pensamiento de Marchant hay algo así como una noción de libro judío y de Cábala. De cumplirse alguna de estas dos hipótesis, sin embargo, no se volvería inteligible el significado último de La nueva novela, sino que se abriría un camino para indagar en el mecanismo de composición que la obra pone en funcionamiento. Dicho mecanismo, por el cual ciertas operaciones éticas y estéticas se congregan en el diseño del mismo objeto poético-editorial, es lo que llamaremos la “operación gráfica” de Juan Luis Martínez.     We propose a double reading of Patricio Marchant and Juan Luis Martínez, based on a problematization of the book motif in both authors. In this reading, two hypotheses will guide us: 1) that Martínez’s La nueva novela is a “Jewish book”; 2) that such a “Jewish book” would be composed in Cabalistic code, as Marchant alleged. To test these hypotheses, we must determine whether there is indeed something like a notion of a Jewish book and of the Cabala in Marchant’s thought. If either of these two hypotheses were to be confirmed, however, the ultimate meaning of La nueva novela would not become intelligible, but rather, a path would be opened to investigate the mechanism of composition that the work puts into operation. This mechanism, by which certain ethical and aesthetic operations are brought together in the design of the poetic-editorial object itself, is what we will call Juan Luis Martínez’s “graphic operation.”
