U ovom radu analiziramo neke od osnovnih teza medijskog teoretičara Marshalla McLuhana te iste uspoređujemo s relevantnim suvremenim teorijama. Nadalje, definirmao odnos između tehnoloških izuma, ekstenzija i tehnološkog determinizma, istražujemo argumente o povijesnoj i kulturnoj uvjetovanosti ljdske percepcije. Promatramo fenomen percepcije u filozofijskim izvorima antičke Grčke te ga uspoređujemo sa spoznajama suvremene neurobiologije.Predstavljamo specifičnosti sučeone teorije percepcije Donalda Hoffmana te u odnosu na njegove teze analiziramo fenomene prostora i vremena. U kontekstu sučeljavanja starih i aktualnih teorija definiramo sud o medijima kao ekstenzijama ljudskog senzorijuma.
