Von April 1968 bis April 1969 hatte der Autor Gelegenheit, die traditionelle Lebensweise der East Kimberley Aborigines im Nordwesten Australiens zu erforschen.Australiens sowie über die Geschichte und die gegenwärtige Situation des europäischen Einflusses auf die Aborigines in diesem Gebiet zu forschen.Das Projekt wurde durch einen Grant for Research des Australian Institute of Aboriginal Studies, Canberra, und einen Forschungsauftrag der Karl-Marx-Universität, Leipzig, ermöglicht und bestand aus zwei Teilen:1. eine sozialanthropologische Feldforschung in dem Gebiet, auf das sich der Titel dieses Berichts bezieht,2. eine Phase des Bibliotheksstudiums, insbesondere in Perth, W.A., vor und nach der Feldforschung.
