This chapter describes Maurycy Horn's Regesty dokumentów. Regesty dokumentów is divided into two volumes and covers the period of 1697–1795. Volume I deals with the Saxon era (1697–1763), while volume II, composed of two parts, is devoted to the reign of Stanislaw August Poniatowski (1764–95). Horn's introduction, his editorial comments, and his three excellent indexes are of great help. He informs his reader as to the state of the records, their size, and their present location, indicating losses and damage inflicted on them because of the partitions, the numerous wars and risings, and, above all, the destructive Nazi occupation of Poland (1939–45).
