Incentives of Design

Design emerged as a reflection on mass production, using the expressive language of the arts (poetics) to counteract the mechanisation of civilization. It attracted a large number of designers skilled in technology, but not the art of design. Today, it is crucial to recognise the distinctive role of design as a part of culture. In place of commercial impersonality, a new design should embrace artistic poetics the “superconsciousness” of regional cultures. Creative reflection, a return to artistic semantics and synesthetic techniques will allow design to evolve as an art form expressing the meaning and values of the world.
