Abstract
ClpB93 has also been called F84.1, E89 (VanBogelen etal., 1992; Fuge, Farr, 1993). ClpB79 has been called E72, F68.5,, ClpBz(Squires etal., 1991). The Escherichia coli CIpB heat shock protein (NCBI sequence identification number 147365) (Kitagawa etal., 1991; Squires et al., 1991) is a member of a recently discovered family (Gottesman et al., 1990; Squires, Squires, 1992), which has been referred to as the HSP100 family (Parsell et al., 1994). E. coli CIpB, other members of this family share two distinct ATP-binding regions (each about c. 200 amino acids in length) that possess very high sequence similarity.
