Studying the performance of selected tillage implements on sandy loam soil
View through CrossRef
Performance data from various tractors and implements under different soil conditions are essential for farm machinery management. A field experiment was conducted at the demonstration farm of the faculty of Natural Resources, University of Alsalam, El fula with the objective to observe the performance of selected tillage implements in sandy loam soil. As well as developing a computer model program (Microsoft Visual Studio Ultimate 2016) to calculate and predict the performance parameters. The treatments consisted of three types of tillage implements namely the chisel plow, the cultivator and the offset disc harrow. The performance parameters namely the effective field capacity (ha/h), field efficiency (%), slippage (%) and fuel consumption (l/ha) were determined. The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design with three replications. The results showed that difference among the tillage implements with regard to their performance variables was found significant. The cultivator had higher values in effective field capacity and field efficiency were 2.60 ha/h and 84%, respectively. The chisel plow and the offset disc harrow recorded the highest value in slippage percentage and fuel consumption were 12.33 % and 17.13 l/ha, respectively. The calculated performance variables by a computer model program were similar to the actually calculated parameters. It is concluded that in the sandy loam soil the cultivator performed better than the other two plow types. The developed program was successfully applied to compute the technical performance parameters.

Title: Studying the performance of selected tillage implements on sandy loam soil
Description:
The cultivator had higher values in effective field capacity and field efficiency were 2.
60 ha/h and 84%, respectively.
The chisel plow and the offset disc harrow recorded the highest value in slippage percentage and fuel consumption were 12.
33 % and 17.
13 l/ha, respectively.
The calculated performance variables by a computer model program were similar to the actually calculated parameters.
It is concluded that in the sandy loam soil the cultivator performed better than the other two plow types.
The developed program was successfully applied to compute the technical performance parameters.
