Study on a Prototype-Base for Detection and Activation of Land Mines in Angolan Territory
View through CrossRef
This work's objective is to construct a remotely guided trolley prototype which shall detects and activates blast antipersonnel land mines still active in Angolan territory, ensuring that the device is safe and consistent, meeting local needs efficiently, reaching the best ratio cost benefits. Is presented the design and construction of the prototype and some other products that are alreay in the market, in order to validate the efficiency of the prototype, ensuring the contribution to reduce the number of victims by landmines. It also presents an analysis of the benefits of the prototype for society, comparing the prototype production costs to costs for a surviving victim of these artifacts. Finally, a feasibility analysis of the project and the positive impact of the project are also presented. The prototype final performance was very close to what was initially designed for. The results were obtained from several field tests, where an average work of 100 m2was found every 11 minutes, taking into consideration the variety of terrain profiles and it own difficulties. The scanning capability, that is, the ability of the prototype to read the ground ahead, in an averaged of 12.48m2per minute, being equal to or even more productive when compared to active products in the market. The battery life of the electric drive base is 30 minutes, but after the tests were performed, an average of 26 minutes of work with a single load was found. Finally, it was found that prototype fabrication would be feasible, due to its satisfactory performance, and even more so when comparing the costs of prothesis treatments for surviving victims.
Title: Study on a Prototype-Base for Detection and Activation of Land Mines in Angolan Territory
Description:
The scanning capability, that is, the ability of the prototype to read the ground ahead, in an averaged of 12.
48m2per minute, being equal to or even more productive when compared to active products in the market.
