La « prochaine épidémie » : domination et émergences

Comment donner à voir l’apocalypse à l’ère des pandémies d’origine zoonotique ? Ce compte-rendu de Human Extinction and the Pandemic Imaginary, publié par Christos Lynteris au seuil de l’épidémie de COVID-19, problématise la tension entre un imaginaire dominant, perpétué par les politiques de préparation aux épidémies et les médias, et un imaginaire émergent — historiquement et géographiquement. Les inflexions du genre sont éclairées par le biais de comparaisons entre pandémies passées et celle dont nous faisons présentement l’expérience. Il est néanmoins important de considérer la nouveauté des images d’extinction de l’humanité non seulement dans le temps, mais aussi dans l’espace.
