While oil fields and solar farms can support kit fox populations through conservation measures like permeable fencing and vegetation management, agriculture poses a severe threat due to habitat conversion, pesticide use, and reduced prey availability. The chapter also highlights the multifaceted threats roads pose to San Joaquin kit foxes, including vehicle strikes, habitat fragmentation, and disruption of genetic flow. Climate change presents additional challenges and uncertainties, with potential impacts on habitat suitability and range shifts.
