Hittite Anatolia: A Political History

This article narrates the political history of the second millennium, focusing on the Hittite state and its capital at Hattuša. The Hittites struggled with issues of dynastic succession, court intrigue, and constant pressure on their borders. The theme of the Hittites' innovative strategies to deal with such issues is developed, including utilizing international treaties, and some of the most unique texts of Anatolian antiquity are discussed, such as Hattušili III's sophisticated justification for deposing his nephew.
