Summary Neotypification of Ornithopus sativus results in a restructuring of its two subspecies and the need for two new combinations: O. sativus subsp. isthmocarpus (Cosson) Dostal falls into synonymy with O. sativus Brot. subsp. sativus and what was called O. sativus Brot. subsp. sativus becomes O. sativus subsp. roseus (Dufour), comb. nov. Also, O. sativus var. macrorrhynchus (Willk.), comb, nov., is recognized.
