Latin American Thought as a Path toward Philosophizing from Radical Exteriority

This article unfolds a thinking in radical exteriority, a thinking with a sense of alterity that may rekindle philosophy from beyond its traditional articulation. This is a thinking never enclosed by the dominating rationalism or ideologies that see themselves as holding a universal word that may speak for all or name all, or measure, determine, and ultimately make all difference accessible objects of knowledge and production. The point is a radicalizing and intensifying of philosophical thought by recognizing thinking, ways of being, and configuration of knowledge that traditionally remain for the most part buried and excluded, obscured, and misrepresented. In listening to those voices, in letting philosophy turn to the oppressed and excluded, one finds possibilities opened by experiences figured by border thinking, hybrid thought, deconstruction, and pluriversal hermeneutics.
