Forecasting Steam Chest Growth in a Line-Drive Steamflood Project Using Classical Analytical Models
View through CrossRef
ABSTRACT
The rate of steam chest growth can significantly impact oil production in a line drive steamflood. Simple analytical models often suffice to provide the quick insight needed to analyze the growth rate and save major numerical simulation efforts.
Using classical analytical models proposed by Marx-Langenheim, Mandl-Volek, etc., steam chest growth is analyzed and predicted in the Upper Vedder sand at Mt. Poso field, California. Various steam injection scenarios are examined.
When compared with field data, the analytical results indicate accurate description of the steam chest growth. The predicted rate of steam chest growth is presented and the future performance of the reservoir discussed.
