System Emergence at Toyota Reinterpretation

Abstract Introduction: An Operational Definition of Multi-Path System Emergence Having outlined a history of the Toyota-style manufacturing system in chapter 2, let’s now interpret it from the system emergence point of view. The present chapter includes the last two steps of the historical analysis. In step 3, I rearrange the given history to demonstrate how a variety of evolutionary paths created the main components of the Toyotastyle system. In step 4, I summarize my historical findings to see if Toyota, in fact, possessed an evolutionary learning capability, by which it created that competitive manufacturing system out of the multi-path system emergence.
