Frequency of Musculoskeletal Disorders in Swimmers

Swimming is a standout amongst the most wellknown games. Our country is encompassed by water and swimming is one of our awesome interests. Work related musculoskeletal disorders arise in many occupations; swimmers perform repetitive and challenging movements which make them susceptible to musculoskeletal disorders. They need to be evaluated for betterunderstanding their demands.Objective: To determine the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders in young swimmers Methods: Among The Study Swimmers 2(2.4) were havingneck pain, 16(18.8%) were having right shoulder pain during last 12 months, 4(4.7%) were having left shoulder pain, 10(11.8%) were having one or both shoulder pain, 3(3.5%) were having right elbow pain, 1(1.2%) were having left elbow pain, 2(2.4%) were having left wrist/hand pain, 4(4.7%) were having right wrist/hand pain, 5(5.9%) were having one and both wrist/handpain, 22(25.9%) were having upper back pain, 2 6 ( 3 0 . 6 % ) w e r e h a v i n g l o w e r b a c k pain/discomfort, 17(20.0%) were having one or both hips/thighs pain, 16(18.8) were having one or both knees pain, 10(11.8%) were having one or both ankles/feetpain. Conclusions: This study concludes that swimmers are at mild to moderate risk of developing musculoskeletal disorders due to their nature of exercise. Among swimmers shoulder, wrist/hand, knee and back pain was associated with gender.
