Pliny the Younger and Emperor Trajan: Letters on Treatment of the Christians
View through CrossRef
Among a collection of nearly 250 letters written by the Roman administrator Pliny the Younger was found a single report to the Roman emperor Trajan (along with the emperor’s brief response) composed while Pliny was governor of Bithynia. It reflected Pliny’s growing concern over public and judicial matters regarding an emerging religious sect known as the Christians. In the letter he documents his actions and solicits the emperor’s guidance.
