Dublin artist Gerard Byrne works primarily in film and photography. Presenting large-scale installations which reference a range of literary and theatrical sources, he considers how images are constructed and communicated. Byrne represented Ireland at the Venice Biennale and Lyon Biennale in 2007 and at the Sydney Biennale, Gwangju Biennale and Turin Triennial in 2008. He has exhibited extensively, including a significant solo show at IMMA in 2011.
