A Silver Punchbowl at the Society of Antiquaries

In 1916 Horace Sandars, FSA offered to the Cocked Hats (a small dining club within the Society of Antiquaries) a replacement silver punchbowl. Interesting speculations about the origin of this bowl have been made over the years, and this Note seeks to find a truth behind the rumours. I include with grateful thanks information from John Hopkins, FSA, who has worked previously on this subject.
